Personal Background

Ayuba Ganiyu Adele, Esq., popularly known as Mayor KK, is a Nigerian lawyer, public administrator, and a politician and a member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives from Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos State, Southwestern Nigeria.

He is a loyal member of the largest political party in Nigeria, the All Progressives Congress.

Ayuba was born on July 7, 1965, into the family of Mr. Ayuba Amusa from the Awori clan of Akesan Town in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State.

He is happily married with children. He likes reading, writing, listening to good music, traveling, and meeting people.

Education & Qualification

He attended Anglican Primary School, Akesan, Lagos State, from 1970 to 1977; Oba Community High School, Oba, Abeokuta, Ogun State, from 1979 to 1980; and Igando High School, Igando, Lagos State, from 1980 to 1984. 

He attended the Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education (now Lagos State University of Education), Otto-Ijanikin, Lagos State. In 1987, he proceeded to the University of Ibaban, Oyo State, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Agronomy in 1991 with a specialization in Land Scaling and Beautification. He observed the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from 1991 to 1992. In 1998, he obtained a Master of Public Administration (MPA) at Lagos State University.

Despite his secondary school education as a science student, due to his love for the legal profession, after his first degree in sciences, he sat for GCE as an Art student and gained admission to study Law at the Lagos State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws, LL.B. (Hons) in 2005.

He was called to the Nigerian Bar as a solicitor and advocate of the Supreme Court of Nigeria in November 2006, after completing the professional training programme at the Nigerian Law School, Kano State, which he undertook between 2005 and 2006.

He is the managing partner and principal partner of Moroel Trust Limited and Gani Ayuba & Co.

Professional Career

Lecturing Experience

He lectured as a part-time lecturer (Commercial Law) at the Lagos State Polytechnic.

Early Career

Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, Esq. (Mayor K.K.) joined the Lagos State Civil Service in 1993 as Agricultural Planning Officer II GL 08 and was posted to the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. He rose through career progression (promotion) to the post of Assistant Chief Agricultural Planning Officer, GL 13.

He converted to the Principal Administrative and Human Resource Officer Cadre on Grade Level 12 and was deployed to the Lagos State Ministry of Housing, Department of Administration, and Human Resource.

As a result of his sound administrative prowess, he was posted to the Lagos State Ministry of Health (School of Nursing, Igando) as the Head of Administration, where he performed outstandingly in the administration of the institution.

He was also a Personal Assistant to Mrs. Eniola Yonwuren, the Executive Secretary, Lagos Island East LCDA, Lagos State.

As Deputy Director (Admin. & HR.) at the Lagos State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), his diligence, commitment, dedication, and high managerial skills led to his appointment in 2016 as the Head of Department (HOD) for Recruitment, Discipline, and Exit (RDE), where remarkable achievement was recorded in the department, and he contributed laudably to the Commission in general.

Political Career

Early Political Career

His political career started as a Card Boy for the Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN) from 1978 to 1983.

During the five Political-Party System in Nigeria, he served as Coordinator/Youth Leader of the Grassroots Democratic Movement (GDM) in Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State, from 1996 to 1997.

He was the first Coordinator of the Alliance for Democracy (AD) in the federal government recognized Ward “F” of Alimosho Local Government Area, Lagos State.

From 2000 to 2003, Secretary of Mandate/Bola Ahmed Tinubu Campaign Organization, Alimosho Local Government, under the chairmanship of Hon. Bisi Yusuf, now representing Alimosho Constituency 01 in the Lagos State House of Assembly.

Ayuba is presently the Chairman of a powerful and popular group loyal to the APC National Leader, Sen. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Abe-Igi Leadership Forum of Alimosho Federal Constituency, a position previously held by Alh. Abdullahi Enilolobo, the former Organizing Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC), Lagos State Chapter, and the Apex Leader of the party in Alimosho Federal Constituency.

Leadership Roles

Ayuba took steadfastly to leadership positions right from his days in secondary school.

He was the Assistant Senior Prefect and Health Prefect in the secondary school.

Honourable Member, Students’ Parliamentary Council (SPC) of Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, now Lagos State University of Education, between 1985 and 1986.

He served as Assistant Secretary, Public Relations Officer, and President of the University of Ibadan Chapter of the National Union of Lagos State Students (NULASS).

Ayuba (Mayor K.K.) served as Public Relations Officer (PRO) for the Lagos State Branch of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) from 2000 to 2003.

In the years 2004–2007, he was elected and served as Chairman of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN), Lagos State Branch, where he worked very hard on the revitalization and development of the association.

Special Adviser to The Governor of Lagos State

Ganiyu Adele Ayuba, Esq., was appointed by the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, as Special Adviser on Urban Development.

He served from January 27, 2020 to April 15, 2022.  Within this short period in office as Special Adviser on Urban Development, he served meritoriously. His brilliant contribution was acknowledged at the Lagos State Executive Council on the Developmental Agenda of the Governor, which is acronymic in the T.H.E.M.E.S. Agenda towards a Greater Lagos.

The opportunity given to him to serve in this capacity informed the Lagos State Executive Council’s discovery of him as a great asset to the Lagos State Government. His appointment and leadership acumen are also felt and seen conspicuously by family, friends, party leaders, members of the party, and the good people he was appointed to serve.

On the occasion of his birthday on July 7, 2022, the Lagos State Executive Council, ably led by Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, described him as a grassroots politician well equipped for governance. A tireless teammate, a committed ally, a diligent compeer, and a dutiful associate.

Elected Member of House of Representatives

On April 15, 2022, Ayuba resigned his appointment as Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Urban Development to contest for the House of Representatives under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the Alimosho Federal Constituency, Lagos State, taking it upon himself a clarion call to ameliorate the needs of the people and bring more dividends of democracy.

On May 30, 2022, Ayuba won the All Progressives Congress (APC)  primary election to represent the federal constituency, polling 50 of the expected 55 delegates to defeat all other candidates who polled nil. The remaining 5 delegates were not present at the primary election.

On February 27, 2023, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Ayuba the winner of the 2023 House of Representatives election. He was declared member-elect after he polled 65,167 votes to defeat his opponents. His runner-up candidate from the Labour Party (LP) polled 51,067. The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) had 20, 414 votes to come in third.
